Celebrate Earth Month with Aveda, WRA this April

Each April, Aveda salon and spa professionals raise funds for grassroots organizations that address environmental problems around the world. The Earth Month campaign focuses on a specific topic each year and raises awareness around the issue, educates supporters, and contributes funds to non-profit conservation organizations.
Western Resource Advocates is proud to again be selected as an Earth Month partner for 2010, and our water program will be the beneficiary of some of the money raised through Aveda's Earth Month activities.
This year's Earth Month theme is "1 in 7 Lacks Access to Clean Water." Water quality and the health of rivers, lakes, and aquifers is a concern in the arid West where limited water supplies present a challenge for growing populations. When there isn’t enough water in rivers, water quality and ecosystem health deteriorates. In some case, such as Utah’s iconic Great Salt Lake, vibrant ecosystems are damaged by toxins that end up in the lake. By encouraging conservation and promoting sound environmental practices, WRA is working to keep water clean and safe for millions of people in the West.
