Summer Internships

WRA has legal and non-legal internships available this summer.

Legal Internships

Boulder, Salt Lake City, and Santa Fe

WRA is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated second-year law students for internships in Boulder, Salt Lake City, and Santa Fe for the summer of 2008.

Internships are available in our water, lands and energy programs. WRA offers ten-week summer internships to law students who have a demonstrated interest in and commitment to the environment and a strong academic record.

Ideal candidates are second-year students with strong writing skills, experience working for a law firm or conservation group, and completed coursework in administrative and environmental law. Limited funding is available for summer interns; applicants are encouraged to seek supplemental funding.

Summer interns’ duties cover the full spectrum of the practice of public interest environmental law. Interns perform legal research, write memoranda, draft letters and pleadings, meet with clients, and attend court and regulatory proceedings. Interns can expect an interesting and challenging learning environment and a close working relationship with their supervising attorney.

Deadline for applications for summer 2008 internships is March 14 , 2008. Submit cover letter, resume, professional references, and writing sample to andria@westernresources.org. Non-Legal Internships

Boulder

WRA’s Energy Program is looking for two enthusiastic and dedicated students for internships in Boulder for the summer of 2008.  WRA offers ten-week summer internships to students who have a demonstrated interest in and commitment to the environment and a strong academic record. 

Energy Program  Internship:
Work may include the review and analysis of resource planning proposals (which compare clean and conventional energy sources) and/or the update of our renewable energy maps to identify all potential and proposed renewable energy projects in the WRA interior west territory.  Ideal candidates are students with a background in economics, mapping, or electrical engineering.  Strong quantitative skills, writing skills and experience working for a conservation group are also a plus. 

Clean Energy Campaign Internship:
Work may include research on current renewable and conventional energy projects in the Interior West and/or development and implementation of grassroots strategies to promote renewable energy solutions. Ideal candidates are students with a background in public policy, public administration, government, or political science.  Experience working with volunteer organizations, student governments, or environmental groups is a plus.

Interns can expect an interesting and challenging learning environment and a close working relationship with members of the Energy Program.  Limited funding is available for summer interns; applicants are encouraged to seek supplemental funding.
