Protecting the San Miguel: A major portion of the San Miguel River will be permanently protected under a precedent-setting water right after a Colorado Water Court ruling this week. In the ruling, the Water Court for Division 4 ruled in favor of an application for "in-stream flow" (ISF) protection that permanently safeguards a large section of the San Miguel River west of Montrose, Colo.

Renewable Energy: Colorado reaffirmed its role as a national leader in renewable energy when the legislature approved the only bill in the country seeking to expand the use of wind, solar, and other alternative resources. Senate Bill 252, setting Renewable Energy Standards for Rural Colorado, was passed in the Senate earlier in April, and received final approval by the House on April 30th. Most Endangered River: The Colorado River is the most endangered river in the United States, according to the 2013 list of America's Most Endangered Rivers® released today by the nonprofit group American Rivers.
