When you buy green power you:
- reduce our reliance on fossil fuels
- reduce air pollution and reduce water consumed for power generation
- reduce greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming
- stimulate the region's economy by supporting innovative, clean technology
How does it work?
- You have the choice to purchase renewable energy from your local utility or from an independent company. Signing up helps offset the environmental impacts of generating electricity.
- Check the list of providers to see what products are available. Most cost just a few dollars a month and all support the development of new, clean energy sources.
- The average American home uses about 1,000 kWh a month. You can buy green power to offset a portion of your electricity. Or go all the way and offset 100% of your energy use!
