Sign up for Green Power in New MexicoYou can buy green power from your utility or from green power marketing companies.Q: What if I don't pay my own utility bill? A: You can purchase green power from a green power marketing company. Q: What if I want to buy only solar power? A: Different companies supply different kinds of renewable energy. Check the "Energy Sources" column to find your preferred source. Q: How will the renewable power be delivered to my home? A: Electricity from wind farms or other renewable sources is fed into the transmission system that supplies homes and businesses throughout the region. Q: How do I know I'm getting what I paid for? A: Third party certification ensures that the amount you pay goes to purchase renewable energy and to cover the cost of the program. PNM, Southwestern Public Service and El Paso Electric green power programs are regulated by the NM Public Regulation Commission. Electric utilities in New Mexico are required to offer their customers the option to purchase renewable energy. Q: How much energy does the average household use?
